I've had a love of sewing since making my first pair of shorts at school back in the 1990's. I spent my teenage years creating clothes for myself and dreaming of the day I could design and make for others. I went on to study Theatre at Dartington College of Arts, theatre and performing being my other passions, and after a few years of drifting through various jobs I decided to take my youthful dreams and fulfil them.
So I've been running my sewing business since 2013, starting out with fancy dress costume commissions, alterations and home furnishings. From working in my spare room to taking on a workshop I have created many different things for my wonderful customers, designing and making wedding dresses and celebration outfits, re-lining winter coats, producing waistcoats, shirts and even boxer-shorts for discerning gentlemen. Copying favourite skirts, and tailoring suits to fit perfectly. And of course helping people furnish their homes with curtains, blinds and cushions, helping to choose fabrics and colours, giving advice and creating just the right thing to compliment and frame interiors. I've even mended and re-stuffed favourite teddy bears and created special toys for special days.
I'm at my happiest when collaborating and creating garments from scratch, taking a pencil sketch and making it into a real-life well fitting garment, and then seeing the joy when someone is wearing what was once an idea in their head.
Within the last year or so I've stopped the alterations side of things and I've begun to concentrate on creating own designs - the thing I always dreamed of... check out the collections page to have a look. Also there is the NEWS & UPDATES page where I write about what I'm currently working on.
My theatrical interests have been coming back to shine a light also, I'm now wardrobe mistress for local group TAODS, Totnes Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society, where I can put my super (technicolour) creative side to work and also have the chance to perform again which is heaven!
Thank you for visiting, I try to keep my pages updated with latest works so do have a look...
