Barbara - So the remit was…. A dress for my daughter’s wedding in a Cathedral in India that would keep me cool in the heat through a full wedding service and Catholic mass in a building without air conditioning but the dress would keep me covered appropriately. I also needed to be aware of the beautiful coloured sari that the women would wear so I had to have a dress to the floor and the colour needed to be bright.
I was very lucky to find Sophie on the internet who understood my concerns. I had no idea what design I wanted so Sophie made up a few designs in calico for us to choose from. Sophie also obtained dress fabrics and suggested using linen with a cotton lining, she also suggested lace sleeves to help keep cool.
All of her suggestions worked perfectly and I felt as if we had hit the spot with the dress. It felt lovely to wear and with the cotton lining it kept me as cool as possible and the lace sleeves stopped that problem of moisture under the arms!!
After returning from India Sophie shortened the dress for me to use at my daughter’s wedding blessing here in the UK and I teamed this with a lovely jacket. So, a win win situation, I now have a beautiful dress that I can still wear out to functions.
My daughter’s wedding dress was considered too revealing as a Bishop was undertaking the service. Although the dress was lace to her neck you could see through part of the back and front of the dress so Sophie to the rescue. No problem she said and made soft cotton liners which attached with poppers for my daughter to wear at the service and remove for the receptions so that the dress showed all its beauty.
Sophie is a lovely person and very talented, I would always recommend Sophie for any unusual or usual task.

Issy - The curtains could not be more perfect, you did an absolutely amazing job. Perfect width, perfect length and they look full and thick. Massive thanks. When we get around to curtains for the rest of the house we will be in touch.

Wendy & Adam - When we came back to England after living in France for 14 years we brought back with us a pile of old French linen sheets (unused!) that we had bought from an antiques market with some vague notion of doing something with them. Three years after moving into our new home we finally decided to dig them our from under the bed and see if we had enough material to make curtains for 10 French windows. Sophie came to the rescue, measured everything up and decided it could be done with some creative know how and we have now just hung 10 beautiful pairs of curtains. They look stunning, the work is exquisite and they bring some lovely French warmth into our living room. Thank you, Sophie.

Below: Mya commissioned me to make her one of my classic design blanket coats but she wanted a few extra details -- like a chocolate brown element and also a dash of leopard print to give the coat a truly bespoke look. So I found what she wanted and added those into the mix and she loves it. All of my coats are individual but having client input really sets this one apart from the rest. I haven't managed to get a photo of her in it yet but hopefully I will soon!
Mya - My new maroon, chocolate, leopard skin coat . - ‘ here she comes just a walking down the street - singing’ doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy doo’ - Manfred Mann July 1964. Get noticed!
